LOL... with my dog its run or get dragged... He is too excited to do anything other than run for two and a half miles.

They either are at my side walking quietly or if we're in hike mode, they walk behind me following my lead.

Bub - side by side. Honestly, he can be "walked" without a leash. Just say "Stay close" and he's right by your hip until you tell him to go elsewhere. Winston - is a pain in the neck (back, legs, butt if you hit the ground...) I want to get him one of those head collars and see if that doesn't calm down the pulling. He tends to lock his head between his shoulders and PLOW! I haven't been walked by him since I got pregnant - I'm too scared to. Samwise - I'm usually behind him, but we're working on the same kind of training Bub has. It'll be harder with a Dachshund than the old man (3/4 pit bull, 1/4 rottie) but he's getting better all the time.

I stay on my front porch and they run around my yard..

They take the lead sometimes. Other times I'm in alphabitch mode and they have to walk behind me.
