Quite a bit, actually. I check the LA Times and NY Times best seller lists and read reviews in their book sections. I prefer non-fiction because there's so much to know about in the world and not nearly enough time!!

When I buy a book I generally go and look for what I know I will enjoy or need. At times I buy a general culture book or magazines, that is when if I have read reviews they influence in my buying it or not. Regards.

An unbiased and good review helps us to select the book. I have purchased very good books following a good review.
-
Interesting question, because not nearly as much impact as movie reviews do on my seeing a movie. Perhaps because I have several favorite authors who I read whatever their reviews because they've proven themselves to me!
-
Zero. Critics are always wrong. Besides, I want to make my own choices.
-
None! I never pay mind to reviews whatever.

They are often a way for me to find out about good history books. I can usually tell by the way the review is written how accurate or biased the reviewer is. I also look at the background of the reviewer, which is normally given with the review.
-
No impact at all. I prefer to make my own decisions on a book. =]
-
If its from someone that I respect and actually look for their input of course. Just some random book review, not in the slightest.
-
A little to none.
-
None at all. I don't read the reviews.
