In the current 'casual dress' culture in the corporate world, yes. In other professional organizations, no. A jacket and tie is always required at any formal function, as well.

No, I don't think so. There are plenty of occasions when a tie is almost mandatory. Working in a suit requires a tie...formal attire requires a tie. I have many friends that wear ties, in and out of their jobs. Nope, not passe.

They are so Victorian and are useless nooses. I refuse to wear one when I dress up nice.

No way! They have become such a fashionable accessory, I think. As a female, I think it is so much fun how fashion is feminizing the tie.

No, I still see them being worn all the time. I have noticed though at least in my church that men are not wearing tie tacs like they used to. I don't know if this is happening everywhere or not. But I have noticed it.

No. Many boys have to wear them for work (like at hotels, restaurangs or as domestic worker servant boys).
