  • I personally don't own a dog, but right now the people I'm living with do and they use a crate. The dog likes it, especially at night and its really nice when company is over because the dog is young and very excitable when anything new happens. We can tell her to go to her box and she'll stay in there until she calms down. And, of course, its useful when travelling. Most hotels will make you crate dogs when you are out of your room.
  • No. Because she communicated to me that she would not be having it and THAT was that!!!
  • No, it's not really done much in England and I have never found it necessary. The other reason is that I normally have around 4 dogs at a time and if they were all crated there would be no room for me and my furniture! I understand the reasoning behind it but I don't feel I could carry it out.
  • I only have to crate one of them and only when their is no one home to watch her.We don't crate the other two because they are not as accident prone as the other one.All three get to sleep with us in our beds. One with me,one with my parents, and one with my sister.
  • I have the crates and the young dog needs it but I'm no good at teaching them to be happy craters............ So the young dog lies on top of his crate and sometimes in it but I don't close the door.
  • I don't but I see nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't find a crate big enough for the big one anyway. I think though if you start crating a dog from a young age they become accustomed to it and actually like sleeping in it at night.
  • I had two dogs with no crates and no problems...than I got the next dog and well...He would destroy things when we left... So till he turned two he was crated when we left...now he is well behaved and uncrated... I have a puppy that is 10 months that pees while we are gone...and he is crated till he learns how to hold it....
  • Yes, we have used crates as their 'den' for over 30 years. It's a great training tool and a wonderful safe den for dogs to go to when they want privacy. But we never use it as punishment or anything negative. It's always a happy experience and used from the very start, as puppies. Plus I think it is the safest way to transport dogs in cars, much safer than a seat belt for them. It prevents dogs form flying all around a cab in an accident. And we have Newfoundlands, so it hasn't been easy to use giant crates. LOL!!!
  • ok wut the heck is a crate, is it like a dog cage or kennel? or wut?
