  • "Hemi" refers to the shape of the headers. Any engine that has hemispherical heads can be refered to as a hemi engine, so therefore no, Chrysler isn't the only company with Hemi engines but they probably copyrighted the term.
  • Ford created around 50 427 "Cammer" engines in the 60's. They were SOHC 427 blocks with hemispherical heads. The Cammers created amazing horsepower as they revved to a mind boggling 7,500 rpms, but at the same time were very impractical for street use. They never went into production cars, but I believe they are available as a crate engine today.
