This sounds like a personal issue the guy has. No woman should be made to wear makeup just to get out of her house. Perhaps the couple should see a relationship counselor.

Because he's a slob! I mean a REAL one. To the bone and in his heart. I don't leave the house like that. If it ain't good enough for my Wife, it ain't good enough for me. Period.

I leave my house without makeup all the time and nobody scorns me, meaning - it sounds a LOT like the slob's problem, not the woman's. You know, the old double standard. Maybe the slob just wants to rag on somebody, for something. If the woman was wearing makeup, he'd probably rag on her for wearing too much. The list goes on. The scorning is likely a diversionary tactic more than anything. "If I can focus her attention back on herself, somehow, then she'll be busy thinking about how she looks. She'll forget about how bad I look." thought Pigpen. Maybe she'll forget for awhile, but the aromatic reminders wafting through the air will quickly remedy that little oversight. And here's a tip: guys who dress like slobs in public - it's really not all that hot a look. Scruffiness may play well in movies, but believe me -- in real life, a woman without makeup is NOTHING compared to a guy who looks like a slob. ~~~~ To explain the comments by lady fuschia and stableboy, when I first answered, a rather grouchy fellow told me to retract my claws and then accused me of "male bashing". I told him I was "slob-bashing, not male bashing" and then remarked, "But if you want to get upset about it, well, umbrage is free. Take all you like." And if you can get umbrage in a box, SB, sure. I'll gift wrap, LOL Funny

I don't wear make-up. Sometimes my clothes don't really match too well. However, I've never been scorned, really. Sometimes comments have been made, but I just say, "I know." I've even sometimes left after just washing my hair and it's not brushed yet, and I just let people know and they completely understand.
