We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month because of the contributions made to the United States by latinos. Latinos resided in the territory of the United States way before any other race, especially in the south-west. The south-west is the ancient ancestral homeland of the Aztecs, Aztlan. It also belonged to Mexico before it belonged to the U.S. One way in which latinos contributed to the U.S. is by their courageous fighting and leadership in the military during wars. It is a fact that more latinos have received the Medal of Honor than any other minority.
