Lost at sea -- there's fish and possibility of ship rescue or reaching land...and I'm not big on sand.

Assuming there is no food and water ,My best chance of leaving a longer day will be at sea.First will be the advantage of the cool temperatures.2nd the chances of getting rain water and sometimes anything that floats could be eaten as long as the sharks don't take you first.If you are lucky, some ships may pass by to your rescue.In the dessert ,you will never have all these advantages accept for a solid ground.
