What are the downsides of getting my hair permanently straightened?

Relaxers are the most damaging chemical to the hair.You could end up with a lot of breakage. When it grows out, you'll have curly roots and straight ends. If you color and relax, your hair could fry. You defintely cannot use any bleach. Sometimes it does not relax completely so you still have to spend a lot of time styling it.
