Yes, so I don't. I can go to Ross or T.J. or whatever and find the EXACT pair of (say) jeans for a third the price. Literally, exact - the same brand, etc. I really feel like it is a rip off and too much of a 'status symbol'

Yes, but it's important to my pre-teen. I hated that my parents would never shell out for the name brands, so I try to pick up a few items every now and again. I'm not too proud to accept hand me downs or shop resale stores and when I shop the actual store I shop the clearance tables at the back of the store.

The clothing at those stores look like someone has worn the stuff and abused it. I want clothing that looks crisp and new, not torn and tattered.

You ARE. The clothes are cheaply made, do not last past a few washings and wearings, and do not remain "cool" or "fashionable" long enough to merit the investment. Your money would be MUCH better spent purchasing classic, well-made clothing that actually suits your body type.

Yes. I could careless about being trendy. Why would I want to pay that kind of money to look like all of the douchebags that are standing in line at starbucks for a 7$ coffee? It doesn't seem logical to me.

I don't understand paying $30 for a t-shirt. Needless to say, I don't usually shop at those places. When I do I head straight for the clearance rack! :)

I don't feel ripped off because I refuse to shop in trendy shops like those you mentioned. I'm not much into brands anyway as far as clothing is concerned. I prefer to shop at Ross or TJ if I'm looking for a particular item in retail. Otherwise, I usually shop consignment shops where someone has taken a bath on the initial investment! I do admit to one pair of Hollister flipflops, but I stole those from my niece!! :)
