Help answer this question below.
I know some personally who is an ex-con and she start working for this company and she make some good money now. It took a sacrifice and hard work but she make that bread.
Your asking two types of question here, where to look for felons and then ask, what type of jobs they look for? Are you the ex-felon or are you looking for an ex? Remember, they are ex, anybody can be be an ex, even the person sitting next to you on a bus/train or in the dinner! Does it really worry you, if you employ an ex or if you meet an ex on a friendly encounter? Many ex's want to go straight, want a normal job, want to become normal members of society! Give them a chance. Some rotten apples don't, but have served their time, only time will tell. Most ex crims want to go straight, just give them a chance.

Contact Unemployment
I think they still have SCOTI online to help people find jobs.
Consider contacting local agencies that provide job training for ex-offenders as well.
It seems that a letter from a prominent member in society should go a long way, don't you think? Especially if he/she will give a good reccommendation.

I'm a felon who went to jail served his time and am actively looking for employment. I'm 30 and have been home now since Sept of 2008 and am starting to feel the strain of being broke and frustration of being told we don't work with felons. I have 2 children 1 of which lives with me and that I have custody of and it hurts that he looks at my situation and doesn't understand why I cannot get a job. My mother was working for Wyeth but was laid off and now her unemployment is about to run out and she cannot find a job either.I went to school and was certified, Universal certification for H.V.A.C and still nothing. It's so deep that people I went to school with that still have not passed the test have jobs waiting on them as soon as they do and I scored top of my class and they'd rather wait on a guy who hasn't passed the test since April. Now I have student loan people to deal with on top of everything else. They look at us as if we are bad people what choice are we left when mentally disabled people are chosen over us, I couldn't even get a job as a greeter at Walmart. You want the crime rate to go down and better people living around you yet leave us no choice but to go back to the 1 place and thing we'll always be accepted at doing. I'm losing hope and faith and am running out of options and am beginning to panic. What am I to do and why I am I to be judged without mercy and frowned down upon when I've paid my debt. The funny thing is that the state has me paying parole supervision fees monthly and want their money regardless of my financial situation. I'm even a tax credit for whoever hires me and they still don't care. I've posted my resume on craigslist and only get call backs to tell me how they would love to hire me but can't because of my past lol. Will I ever truly be free ?

The best thing for an ex-felon is to start their own business. First step is to make their own business cards and maybe even flyers. If you never worked a day in your life, then maybe you should hire yourself out as a general laborer or an office hand, with time that will turn into something. Just stick to whatever you feel you're good at.
An ex-felon has to be creative to get job stability. But if you start and run you're business well and creat a good reputation then you won't have to worry about keeping work coming. I've done it and got by.
I am currently in school for social work and I suggest an ex-felon with a large record as myself to do the same. There's no one more qualifying to help others than those who have made the same mistakes and experienced the same things. An ex-felon can make an incredible youth, drug, job, and mental health counselor.
Remember, the system wants you to give up and repeat your offense so you can go back to prison and keep bieng a cash cow for the prison system, SO DO NOT GIVE UP! If you're bitter and want revenge, just remember that succeeding in life is the best revenge.
