It helps you, but does not help others.

It's bad manners around significantly older and significantly younger people. Other than that, nothing.

absolutely nothing, it not as if you can pronounce an exclamation mark is it? swearing just gives you that choice every swear word is an exclamation mark pronounced correctly

Swearing is generally viewed as a social taboo, often as an indication of low class. The basic thinking is that if your vocabulary is so small that you can’t come up with something unobjectionable to say, you’re probably not winning any intelligence contests, either. That having been said, I’m much less offended by the individual that occasionally lets one slip in a moment of pain/stress than the individual that can’t seem to form a sentence without at least one occurrence of the f-word.

Or you could say, "If there's nothing wrong with swearing, why is it illegal in the United Kingdom and other middle eastern countries?" http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/321703 http://www.owen.org/spoof/swearing/

It makes you sound less intelligent.

other people can be offended by it. best to swear to yourself, and get it out of the system, before interacting with others. my brother in law inserts the F word two or three times in every sentence he says, or makes new swear words by making one word out of the F word and another every day word. He thinks theres nothing wrong with it, but I just think its coarse and shows little creativity with language.
