Toyota Prius, because according to http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/bestworstNF.shtml it is 2008's Most Fuel Efficient Vehicle. That's what we need at a time when fuel prices are insanely high.

Both cars are pretty good. The smart is cheaper but it can only seat 2 people. The prius is bigger and it can seat up to 5 people but it is more expensive. I would have the Smart

The Prius. I like the look of the smart cars more, but I'm sure that in a wreck those things crumple like and aluminum can. Plus, Toyota cars have a reputation for running forever. My general lack of knowledge of the Smart brand would turn me off to the car.
