If pollution causes global warming, then why wouldn't "increased temperatures caused by global warming" cut down on pollution by burning less fuels in furnaces to heat homes and businesses? And thus it tends to balance itself out.

Well, during the summer, there's also need for more air conditioning, which causes more fuel to be burned at the power plants, producing more CO2, which is positive feedback effect, which would negate the effect you described to some degree.

Yeroca, gave one reason. Here is another. Large buildings don't have heaters. Large buildings such as are used for office buildings and industries produce enough heat from the people, machines, electronics, lights, etc. that they don't need heaters. Instead, they have to run air conditioners all year round. The main places where energy is used is not for heating. It is for transportation, cooling in the summer, and running the appliances of our modern life.
