For the time being. Just look at the prices.

It appears that way. I am glad I did most of my travelling when it was cheap enough and within the economic spectrum of the common man.
-
Nope. In fact, the reason why we would fly to Cambodia this November is that we've found low fares. It's just a matter of timing and luck.
-
I think so. The airlines are now charging to handle your baggage. And most have had to pull the planes that they aren't able to fill with passengers out of service.
-
No, not as long as Southwest is still in operation. I love flying Southwest, great service, on time, and cheap. They know how to do it while the other airlines just watch and stay confused.

No! there is a airline that has a cheap gas rate. They signed an agreement to get gas at a set rate five years ago..just can't remember there name..

Air travel will soon once again be for the birds.

I just flew from Australia to Singapore for USD $62 (4.5 hour flight) and from Singapore to Phuket for USD $45 so at least in this area of the world--no. US airlines however---there will be sales like with Spirit and Southwest, but they will be few and far between with lots of fuel surcharges.

I am pretty sure that low fares are a thing of the past. I worked for an airline for 31 years and the end is definitely here..Airlines are in trouble now, all airlines. The price of tickets has not risen significantly for decades, I think that is about to change:(
-
Yes. With the price of oil being $130 a barrel no frills does not necessary mean low cost any more.

I just booked my first Southwest flight to fly to Arkansas in October and it was the cheapest. I usually start by checking www.farecompare to get the airfare trend for the month I am flying..the days of $200 trips to Europe are over until we get a handle on fuel costs!
