  • Telepathy (at will) without a question!!!!!
  • Technically, humans have more than five senses already. There are, of course, vision (sight), audition (hearing), olfaction (smell), and degustation (taste), and the tactile sense (touch). But let us not forget about equilibrioception, our sense of balance, which is associated with the inner ear. This is a very important sense and entirely distinct from the others. But we also have proprioception (the sense of the relative position of neighbouring parts of the body). It is the sense that indicates whether the body is moving with required effort, as well as where the various parts of the body are located in relation to each other. We also have the ability to feel stretching and pain in our internal organs, which is distinct from touch. Some might even categorize our perception of our own mental states (thoughts, feelings, etc.) as a sense, since it is perceiving things entirely distinct from other senses. So that gives us nine senses already. In other animals, we find a few examples of some possible senses we might want to have, to answer your question. Electroception, or electroreception, is the ability to detect electric fields, which can be used to form spatial representations without the need for sight or the other senses: Echolocation is the ability to determine orientation to other objects through interpretation of reflected sound, most associated with bats. Magnetoception, or magnetoreception is the ability to detect fluctuations in magnetic fields, and is most commonly observed in birds, which they use for their navigational abilities. Of the three, I'd choose electroception. Echolocation would be too much like sight using sound waves instead of light waves, and, while using it, my hearing would be taking a back seat. Magnetoception might be nice, but I can always carry a compass to accomplish the same thing. Electroception, on the other hand, could enable me to sense where I am in relation to my environment without the need for sight, hearing, or touch, simply by detecting spikes and differentials in the electric fields around me. It would might manifest itself, subjectively, as a particularly powerful feeling of spatial intuition.
