  • Gold fish get big and make a lot of waste. A 30 liter tank is actually much too small for one goldfish, let alone more. Goldfish do not stay small, like they are in the store, very long. He may look too small now, but eventually he will become so big that he will be unhealthy and possibly stunted in that little tank. If you want fish, I recommend you find another home for your goldfish, and look into a fish species that stays small. Bettas, for instance, can do well in small unheated (room-temperature--not outside) tanks, but you can only have one per tank.
  • Goldfish only grow in a size proportional to the tank so in a 30L tank would not grow to 12". When i bought my tank (30L) i was told that i could have 3 goldfish in it as they recommend 10L per goldfish. I do have 3 fish in my tank and they have not grown to an unsuitable size, in fact, they haven't really grown at all which is the way it seems to work with gold fish
  • A smaller tank would make him happy, but I thought their life span was only a couple of weeks at the most.
