Is a batter out if he throws his bat at a pitched ball in an attempt to hit the ball?

    I'd say that the batter would be "out" as in ejected from the game, which should also render him out in the other sense. However, I don't think the rules specifically cover this situation. If the ump chose not to eject the batter, it'd probably be a strike (or a foul or a fair bunt, depending on whether the bat hit or not).
