I found it, in firefox the addon "menu editor" lets you rearrange and hide parts of your context menu as well as the File toolbar at the top left of your window. i stumbled across this last night when i added some new extensions and needed to thin out my context menu from too many unneeded and repeated controls. i changed my File toolbar from File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help to just File History Bookmarks Tools i never used the other entries so why have them taking up space? even better is "Compact menu 2" it makes your menubar into a dropdown menu button with all the file, edit, etc as sub menus.

For Firefox 3, the Hide Menubar plugin hides it automatically, and will appear when pressing Ctrl. www.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4762

jtrask, here are some screenshots to go with my instructions to jtrask. Just click the thumbnails. also you should get "Toolbar Buttons"for extra buttons to control firefox functions, "Compact Menu 2" to shrink your menubar to a drop down Menu, and "blocksite" to forbid up to 12 sites you never want to pop up on your browser again.
