Help answer this question below.

Hi - how hard would it be to convert a 6 cylinder Jeep SUV/4-wheel drive to a 4 cylinder? This may not make sense to the mechanic thinking group - but I would appreciate understanding if it CAN be done and how! thanx S

    you would have to buy a 4 cylinder jeep motor from the same model jeep. you cannot just pull two spark plugs, as your timing is is set up for 6 cylinders. or you can gut the entire engine compartment, and drop in a 4 cylinder motor and trans from another vehicle. this would be a lot more work, as you have to customize the motor mounts, and rewire all electrical systems related to the engine. also , if your jeep is a 6 cylinder, the 4 cylinder may have a lot of trouble moving the rest of the drive train, since it was set up for more torque.
