    I'd wait until I was checked; however I've given blood half a dozen times before and the person donating blood always has to complete a form of questions, both on paper and asked by a nurse, and there is a question that asks something like 'If you have any reason you may think your blood is unsafe to use, please tick the appropriate box'. You can still give it, but request it not to be used or something. I don't fully understand it since 'Why would you donate it if it can't be used' by I guess they have their reasons.
