I live in an area devoid of Iaido dojos - is it possible to learn Iaido from a book or video without an instructor?

    In short, no. You could probably understand the basic movements, but there are too many intracacies in Iaido to practice without instruction. Blade angle, timing, posture and many other things go into each movement and are vitally important to technique as a whole.

    Another side-effect of training without an instructor is that you would have to "unlearn" most of what you have taught yourself. If you cannot find someone affiliated with the ZNIR, it would be best to wait until you can.
