Where do you start, given there are so many strange people in this world? So, I'll go with this one as it came to mind first: I was travelling on the Paris Metro once and an old guy kept hitting himself on the head with an empty glass bottle for the entire journey - which was at least a 30 minute ride.

OMG, That is terrible. When I was growing up in New Zealand we had a lady in the city who used to spit on all of the windscreens of the parked cars. That was pretty strange. She ended up in psychiatric hospital where I happened to end up working in the 70's.

Walk off a dive charter with their air off on a drift dive. I didn't know it at the time, just when we hit bottom and he had that bug eyed look. He went first, experienced wreck diver, you just figure. That was strange.
