  • They're taken in hazmat bags either to a special laundry room in the hospital or to a facility that deals specifically with bio-hazardous waste. They're cleaned (with what, I'm unsure, but I'm certain there is a lot of bleach involved) and disinfected, then shrink-wrapped to ensure they're sterile until they're needed. It would be extremely costly to replace sheets each time they're used.
