Water leakage from the water pump of Ford escort 1996. It comes mostly after I switch off the engine. What should I do? Is it ok to replace the packing? How should I do?

Sounds like the front bearing seal is shot. Pump needs to be replaced. If you do the replacement yourself, you can get a rebuilt water pump pretty cheap.

I had the water pump on my renault clio done today, new one put in was around £60 pound garage did everything ony took 4 hours or so

Find out where the water is comming from.. If it's comming out of the weap hole,, ( a small machined hole in the water pump ),, then it is bad and need's replaced.. If it's comming out around the gasket, then you can just replace the gasket.. It is usually the water pump it's self... I have been a auto mechanic for over 35 yrs.
