  • I watched my friend get Botox injections, and it did appear painful, but not extraordinarily so. The needle is the same sort of size as a needle used in insulin injections, and the doctor had to make repeated 'jabs' very quickly, and inject a few ml of the Botox in each time. Different doctors have varying techniques – this doctor was a very expensive specialist who is preferred by a lot of society women and top models in my city. Also, my friend has a low threshhlod to pain, and a bit of a fear of needles (as probably most of us do). Still, being jabbed repeatedly in the forehead and around the eyebrows where skin is very sensitive can only cause pain, not pleasure. The doctor made her hold an ice compress to the area for ten minutes or so prior to the injections and again afterwards, probably to reduce bleeding and bruising, and while there was some blood it was minimal and half an hour after the treatment she looked just a little red around the eyes, nothing too serious. The effects of Botox reportedly last anywhere from three to eight months. The more times you get injected with Botox, the longer it lasts, i.e. the less frequently you have to get it done. I don't know if this means it will eventually totally paralyse the muscles and require no further treatments, after say, many years of injections. I'm not sure if anybody really knows the answer to this, as Botox was only approved by the U.S. FDA for cosmetic use in April 2002. It has been approved for the treatment of several medical conditions since 1989.
  • I never done it but i dont think botox injection is very painful. I dont know how long it last but i would rather having botox than a face lift.
  • I think it depends on why you are getting them. I get them in my neck and back for cervical dystonia and they are incredibly painful. That said, they are worth it for the months of relief you get afterward, but they do really really hurt when you get them in mucles that are already too tight.
  • YOU are too afraid to have word done. Admit it!! I have a question. I am going under the knife AGAIN in the fall. My question is---has anyone had a arm lift? Please let me know as I really want to have this done. Is it really painful to have a 15 inch scar on each arm? Is it?
  • No way I get them all the time. I go under the knife tho all the time too. So I guess botox to me is no big deal.
  • I thought you can do Botox injections by yourself. Can you?
