As for the upcoming candidates, only Senator John McCain has any sort of military experience, and he has two sons serving overseas now.   • There is no requirement in the Constitution that the President have military experience. He is constitutionally C-in-C regardless of his background. Nevertheless, there is something in the experience of being in the military that gives a President a proper perspective of the military, its needs, its importance and its actions.
