I have always remembered the colors of a rainbow in this way: Robert of York gained battle in vain with 1st alphabets of the words representing the colors of the rainbow. They are as follows: (1) Red represented by R in 'Robert' (2) Orange represented by o in 'of' (3) Yellow represented by Y in 'York' (4) Green represented by g in 'gained' (5) Blue represented by b in 'battle' (6) Indigo represented by i in 'in' (7) Violet represented by v in 'vain'. This is the color at the bottom of a rainball.

Ultraviolet starts around 400nm, and the red end is up around 750nm. That is why the red refracts at the top. Oddly, I knew this.

If you are talking about the underside of the arch, it's violet. The red is on the outer or upper curve of the rainbow.
