I really enjoy cooking for 6 - 12 people and setting a pretty table, but the MOST fun is doing that AND having the guests read a play (seated - no need for stage business or gestures). (The guests know beforehand what the play will be, of course.) I make the scripts and yellow-mark each copy for a given part. They really get into it! Smart comedies or melodramas are the most fun. We've done Wycherly's "The Country Wife," Sheridan's "A School for Scandal," and Oscar Wilde's "A Woman of No Importance." We move to comfortable seating. Dessert is served at intermission!
