3 gallons is too small for any fish, besides how are you going to fit a pump and filter.
-
With a filter, 2-3 very very small fish. I would probably just recommend a betta fish, a snail, or some african dwarf frogs.
-
A betta would work. I have a 30 gallon and a 55 gallon tank with cichlids in them, they are aggressive but a very fun type to have. I have some convicts, green terrors, blood parrot, a jack dempsey cichlids. I would like some oscars or African cichlids but I am afraid they will be TO aggresive.

Many fish can live in 3 gallons, betas especially. It is also said that goldfish, 1 per gallon is sufficient as well. I have many fish of many different breeds. The one I started wiht are guppies and still have them to this day. You could easily fit 2 and possibly 3 in a 3 gallon tank no problem, just remember to siphon out the water and clean them well once every two weeks. I had 2 guppies in a 2.25 gallon tank, and they were just fine. : )

NO GOLDFISH!!!Maybe 2 guppies or 3 neon tetras.

Are you drunk, the question makes no sense?

3 gallons is more like a fishbowl. Not much can live unless you like changing the water a lot! Try a beta or one goldfish. But that's pretty lonely.
-
a betta or goldfish
-
Beta. They don't need the same filtering systems.

Some fish can live in three gallons. For most that can live in that small of a container, it certainly isn't a good life! I do realize that most have little regards to the life of a pet fish. If you just can't afford anything bigger, yes, a Betta can live in such a small container. You will be cutting his life in half by such a choice. Make sure you put a heater in with him, and that goes for all tropical fish. A single goldfish should NOT be kept in only three gallons!! It's cruel. They are actually pretty messy fish. I would suggest something like Guppies if you feel compelled to keep fish in such a poor environment. You could also find a ten or twenty gallon aquarium on Craigslist for very little, and have happier fish that live longer.
