When downloading from a website (e.g rapidshare) how do you know which mirror to choose? Is there a difference?

supposedly if it shows where they are you should choose the closest one to you, i normally choose one in a country where it is the middle of the night my logic being that if they're asleep they're not using their servers but i dont think it really matters they're just useful if a link is down

Actually, I found no difference in the download links. However, there may be slight variations, regarding their distances, but better you dont manipulate it and just download through the mirror, given first.
