I haven't see an elevator with a handle. Is that the kind with the gate-like external doors?

No. Not worried about germs so much. I'm not Howard Hughes and not germophobic.

I always do lol, im a little bit nervous on escalators just like im really claustrophobic when im in evevators. Holding the handle helps me calm down. Although i make sure to carry some hand sanitizer on me, you never know who touched that handle, or rail lol.

I am like that TV character, Monk. I carry my own wipes, and also paper towels, which I use when I have to touch something in public. They laugh at me on the plane, because I wipe down everything before I touch it, and I make sure I carry a large scarf to put over the head rest. I wear disposable paper suits that I put on over my regular clothes in the airport restroom, and take off when I arrive. I'm often the last one on the plane because security wants to take a second look. I've been traveling like this for about 10 years because of a compromised immune system.

I don't touch it.

Sometimes I don't hold on to the handle until it gets half way up or if the escalator is particularly long. I tend to hold on just in case something should happen, for example, an emergency stop, or the person in front may slip and fall onto me! Sometimes, at certain stations, there are buskers/light entertainment, and I would hold on to get a better view. Sometimes, but not always.
