  • VW Parts tend to be expensive . They are along the lines of a Porsche which they were produced by that company from what I heard, I may be incorrect. For 45k miles I would definitely get the car fixed but I would probably price it around with other places being dealerships are usually more expensive and what costs alot will be the labor to put the clutch in.
  • Do yu drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal? If you do "DON'T" you are riding the clutch even if you feel you don't have any pressure on the clutch you probably do and therefore your clutch could be gone
  • vw likes to have "trial" parts when they do repairs - in other words, they test newer and potentially better versions by installing them into vehicles and seeing what happens. for something that pricey, i would shop around first - go to an auto parts store (okay, a few stores.... some can't get their paws on vw stuff), and find a mechanic who is good but doesn't have a dealership over him.
