Well, as Danes invaded England several times more than 1000 years ago, there's a lot of similarities between those two languages. Also, Denmark used to control almost the whole Northern Europe, so there are also a lot of cultural similarities. I don't think we have quite as much influence today to be honest.. It's a quite rich country compared to its size and population, but it's limited how much influence a country of this size can have, and with the current goverment we're nothing but a neo-nazi citadel and a lapdog of the U.S.
