  • The faster you go the more energy it takes to overcome air resistance. The simple answer is yes, but... Each vehicle has a speed at which it operates most efficently. The auto manufactures design vehicles to meet fuel economy requirments that are tested at highway speeds. The speeds you are talking about are not extreamly fast and probably below the speed of peak efficiency. I did some quick testing on my personal vehicle and found I get the best fuel economy at 70 MPH (116 KPH) I wouldn't be suprised if you got better economy at 100 KPH in your vehicle. Sorry it isn't a simple answer. Hope it helps.
