  • It is more difficult to rise through the ranks of the golfing tour as a caddie than as a player. At least as a player, it is your fault if you don't do well. There are limits to how much influence a caddie can make during a round of golf. Also, it is a game of who you know more than what you know and many of the professional golfers, especially those not in the spotlight, have friends or loved ones on their bags for them. A good start would be to find a local pro who plays in local events or even better one of the other tours like the Nationwide Tour and ask if he had a permanent caddie. Try to persuede him to use you if he does not have a permanent caddie and definitely play on the fact that with a permanent caddie he would get more use out of him because he would have a chance to learn his golf game and have the best advantage of knowing how to help rather than hinder his rounds. Many times just a random friend as a caddie can work more as a distraction than an advantage.
  • For many tour proffesionals, the caddie is another (not successful) pro. It can also be their instructor. Therefore, as happens with ordinary people caddies, their are more than men that carry your clubs for you.
