If i have a sick child that had to go to the hospital and I missed work because of it, I am getting pressure from my supervisor saying i can't miss work. Is this legal?

    If you live in the U.S. and have worked for a company that has more than 50 employee's for 12 months or more (does NOT have to be consecutive) you have rights under the MFLA act. (Marriage and Family Leave) I would either talk to the human resources dept. if there is one or speak to a lawyer who if familliar with this type of law. The lawyer may give you a free consultation. If you are really detertmined you can contact the department of labor. If you work for a smaller company than I don't think there is anything you can do other than go over your supervisor's head. I volunteer at a children's hospital and see kids alone all the time it's very sad and kudos to you for staying with your child.

    If you work for a small company (under fifty employees) it is legal for him to not allow you time off for this purpose.
