Yoghurt is an excellent topical and internal remedy and kefir is even better (replaces the healthy bacteria that is reduced due to yeast overgrowth). It is important to eliminate sugars found in junk and processed foods. It is also important to reduce or eliminate (for the time being) naturally occuring sugars found in fruit and milk products.

You can eat them, or apply youghurt to the affect area. But there isn't a need to do so. Eating Kefir and yoghurt will do the same thing.

All I can say is PROBIOTIC ACIDOPHILUS. I took it as an alternative to antibiotics prescibed from my Dr. (because the antibiotics made me sick to my stomach). Cured my yeast infection in 2 days!!! Now I take one softgel a day and it has helped aid in digestion problems too. Acidophilus is found in organic yogurt but if you don't like yogurt this works just as good. Probiotic Acidophilus can be found in the pharmacy and is very affordable (about $7 for a bottle of 100 softgels).

There are a bunch of effective home remedies for yeast infection treatments. everyone has their own favorite, but the best thing for you to do, would be to first understand what causes it and then simply remove that triggering agent.

It is mostly caused due to harmonal imbalances and can be kept in check by choosing the right foods to eat

    Mary has a good answer.

Here are some other things which may be worth mentioning.

This is a simple diet tidbit which could markedly help in improving one's metabolism or dramatically help in losing weight, but also help to effectively handle a yeast infection. Coconut Oil. Ha! At first glance, one could have the impression that this thick solid white oil could clog the arteries and be a health problem or cause weight gain. Actually, having it in one's diet can naturally increase one's metabolism and naturally help a person to lose weight. Coconut oil has some wonderful properties, including some anti-viral and anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and anti-parasitic characteristics. It is one of the few oils which doesn't have as much of a problem going rancid. There are some remarkable stories about its benefits. Also, it is interesting to note that people in regions which use this oil as a staple in their diet or cooking enjoy some benefits not often seen in the Western cultures. I think many people will start noticing immediate results when taking this oil. Again, this is not a "magic bullet", but it is worth trying along with other good programs.

Probiotics. In addition to organic Coconut Oil, if you suspect that you have a candida yeast overgrowth, it is recommended that you supplement your diet with strong probiotics to balance the flora in your intestinal tract and rebuild your immune system. There, of course, is yogurt. Traditional fermented foods are one of the best additions you can make to your diet, while eliminating refined sugars and simple carbohydrates that the yeasts feed upon. Again, cutting out sugars and refined foods is very important. A balanced nutritional diet with green leafy vegetables, properly prepared whole grains, seafood, etc. goes a long ways towards handling many different problems with the body. I should mention that the probiotics of fresh vegetables alone can help a person. In other words, when eating fresh greens, you can obtain beneficial microbes in a way that is similar to yogurt's beneficial microbes. If the vegetables have been fed synthetic fertilizers or doused with chemicals, there is much less benefit all across the board (less probiotic activity and much less in nutrient value and minerals). Read the post about some of the problems synthetic fertilizers pose on our foods.

Fermented milk called “Kefir”, a yogurt-like drink, is one traditional food originating from the Caucasus region of Central Asia and Turkey. It is best to make this drink yourself from real Kefir grains, rather than purchasing ready-made Kefir drinks, or kits that only contain “starter cultures” without the actual self-propagating Kefir grains.

Other great traditional fermented foods and beverages would include sauerkraut, kimchee, chutney, and kombucha. Make sure they are not pasteurized, which would kill all the beneficial microorganisms.

Bifidus (L. bifidus) is a friendly bacteria which could help. Caprylic acid helps. (Coconut oil contains caprylic acid.) And there are things like garlic, aloe vera, and other herbs such as Pau d'arco or olive leaf extract which could be of benefit. Enzymes and the B vitamins and Vitamin C could assist with a program to eliminate Candidiasis.

EFA. Essential Fatty Acids help the body handle this. The Sievers have some great information on essential fatty acids. You can click on their name or do a search.

One could feel lousy if "die-off" occurs too rapidly for the system to process the toxins. Sometimes a gradient approach works well. (That is, doing a little bit, then a little bit more, then a bit more....) Unfortunately, our society currently has this penchant for the magic "silver bullet", the overnight result of a magic pill. However, many good effects, both mental and physical, can be gained by a gradient, step-by-step approach to improvement. Also, many damaging effects often sneak up on a person in that same step-by-step, little-by-little gradient manner. Increasing one's understanding on a continual basis surely is key.

Toxins in the body can hamper all kinds of health programs and cause the body not to function properly. Solvents, metals, and a whole host of pollutants or toxic substances in many of our everyday products often indirectly or directly upset functions of the body. These, combined with parasites or bacteria and viruses, make many different good programs appear ineffective. When body organs or functions are hindered, the body doesn't work correctly and it gets all out of wack. Handling the elimination system, (like the kidneys and bile produced stones), along with body parasites, can go a long ways towards improved energy. A healthy mental outlook is always important. Results for handling ailments and infections plus a dramatic improvement in energy come about when the body is not hampered by things which are hurting it. The short simple perspective here is to remove any antagonistic properties affecting the body. There is more information on this website and from a variety of books regarding handling toxins or parasites or improving the elimination of body waste products. You can always write me with any questions on sources.

Good nutrition and being in a healthy mental state always helps the body.

Some of the things mentioned here may be worth trying.

Avoiding sugar and most grains is key.

Take an acidopholus supplement. Yogurt (without lots of sugar) and kombucha are good too because they contain good bacterial cultures that kill yeast.

Oil of Oregano is an amazing supplement to take for yeast and your immune system. Spicy herbs like oregano, rosemary, cinnamon, cayenne and garlic help to kill yeast.

I take oil of oregano capsules every day..

Avoid caffiene and beer. Wine and liquor is ok.
