The Latin for ceasarian section is "caeso matris utero" which means "cut (from) mother's womb" Pliny the Elder guessed that one of the ancesters of Julius Caesar had been born that way and was thus called "Caesar" and the name was passed down from generation to generation. Therefore it is quite possible that Caesar was indirectly named after the operation and not the other way around. It is certainly true that the operation and "caes-" bit in the name came long before Caesar did. The phrase "caesarian section" is then a bit silly, because both words mean "cut". It's a cut cut!
