Perhaps the channel you are watching specializes in reporters who just want blood.
-
My local news always spends a good portion an some feel-good fluff story. That affects the world in no way. Thats why I don't watch it anymore.
-
Because reporters think that sad, tragic, and horrible events are more worth catching than some story about something that would make you feel good and happy... For some odd reason, they think that those are the only stories we care about... I don't really watch the news that much anymore because I'm so tired of hearing negative story after negative story!

Bad news sells. "If it bleeds, it leads." Simple economics.
-
I stopped watching and reading the news a long time ago, for that exact reason :)
-
That is why I never watch it.
-
Bad news is good for ratings.
-
It's just that they need to report on all the bad things and since so many bad things happen that there is little room left for any good news to report on.
-
Because in reality we humans are attracted to the horrors of life. I mean would you rather watch a movie of people getting along and everyone having a good time or a movie where everyone dies?
-
Not true. The Cubs AND White Sox are both in first place. That's good news, here anyway. They also have some good news/human interest stuff or making good from bad.
