When a man from Colombia wears a small black ring (not a band) on the left ring finger, is it highly likely that it is a wedding ring, or could there be another purpose?

I would say that if it's on the ring finger it is either a wedding band or a committment ring. But, since you sound interested, why don't you just say, "Hey, I've never seen a black wedding band before - that's cool" and he will probably tell you whether it is or not, and it won't seem like you're hitting on him.

or.. satanist/occult types seem to like black alot. could mean nothing - i'd ask. even if he's the scum of the earth - you're probably safe, unless he has reason to feel threatened :P keep that in mind for talking to suits & whoever else as long as they have no reason to care about ya - doesn't hurt to talk.
