Wow... you actually posted one that intrigued me enough to answer it. :) M*A*S*H was a great show, and the whole appeal of it to me was the idea that these doctors were forced to look at the horrors of war with a sense of humor to keep from losing their minds. However, towards the end of the series when Alan Alda started directing episodes, things got pretty dark, and extremely preachy.
