  • I think there is a certain charm to taping it, though the pain and blood and such might deter some from doing that. It is a thing of preference, though I cannot speak of what decision my future spouse might espouse in that situation.
  • In science class we had to watch a video on it. Hate to be childish, but I don't think I'll need a video of that, it's pretty friggin gruesome.
  • My husband is determined to video tape it if we ever have a baby! My reaction to it: HELL NO!!!
  • why not its like a show! dont you recording the opening show as well as the main event?
  • the moment of birth is a fabulous thing....we taped ours; i had a c-section and you don't have to get every little detail.....for instance~you could tape the birth from the mother's head of the bed....which is what we did~i'm glad that we have that "moment" forever.......it's not "gross" when it's yours~i promise :)
  • I've noticed that when you see things through the eye of a camera whether it is in stills or in movie/video, it doesn't feel the same. The memory is different. A photographer once told me that if I am taking photos of something, don't forget to just stop and take it inside you the natural way, see it with your eyes directly and smell it in, feel it in and take it all in. It gets processed in the brain different. So if someone wanted a video, let someone else do it, but don't do it yourself. Experience it pure and with you being there fully. Don't separate yourself with technology for those special moments.
  • People find beauty in many things. I would never do that..but that is just me.
  • It would be a great tool for when the kids asks where babies come from. Just kidding I swear.
  • if no one did that I would have never known how gross the whole birthing thing is, would have gone into it totally oblivious to the guck and goop and the body pieces stretching all intense like.. yuck! Oddly enough, when I had my lil girl I didn't think of any of that, not till you mentioned it now, 15 years later lol. It was just so beautiful and perfect.. and she was perfect, and I don't think there was any goop at all.. I mean, I can't remember any, just how beautiful she was. I guess it's simply NOT a spectator sport ;) We did not video the moment, and maybe I'm a little thankful for it. I rather keep my sterile lil romantic notions of her blessed birth.
  • I personally wouldnt like that, but hey if thats what makes them happy, why tell them they shouldnt do it. Its there life and decision, so if it makes there experience better, totally go for it!
  • My husband video taped the birth of our daughter, I had a C-section. If it was natural, I wanted him to stand next to my head ant tape from that angle! I put my foot down, I wanted her first cries recorded!
  • I can see what makes people want to do that but I'd rather remember it and let my memory edit the gross parts for me. :-) Keep it as a moment of new life, not the grossest, most painful thing I've ever had to watch my wife go through.
