  • Yes, I've found them very helpful. Why? because they work. Why do they work for me? Not even the doctors can answer that one.
  • Not only have I found them helpful, but they have been the only thing that has kept me able to do the things that a normal person does. Many people are confised as to how stimulamts work on someone who appears already to be overstimulated but it is fairly simple. ADHD sufferrers actually have far less activity in the frontal lobes of the brain. In this area of the brain there are chemiclas which help to regulate activity levels, control behaviour, focus your attention and settle down. A lack of these chemicals and a lack of this activity in the brain causes there to be exsessive acivity in the body. Stimulants will increase the chemicals and activity level in this area of the brain making it easier to control our own activity levels.
  • I have Adult ADD, until recently I've been taking Methylphenidate Hydrochloride, better known as Ritalin. Whilst it does go some way towards combatting the symptoms, it's not the answer. The prescibed drugs for our condition are extremely toxic and extremely addictive. For me, meditation and breathing/concentration/co-ordination exercises have helped me more than Ritalin ever did, it's a worthy challenge and a healthy life choice. The drugs are a crutch, they create more problems than they fix. What you should be doing is training your ability to focus, only with patience and practise will it improve. If you also suffer from the hyperactivity side of the disorder, that can be a blessing; find ways to channel that limitless energy into contructive activities. I appologise if this wasn't very helpful, but I am very much anti-stimulant.. and that from experience.
  • sorry, ignore this.. mis-post
  • I dsont take them personally, but my son does, what a huge change it made to his life when he first started on them, Id say now he doesnt need them as much, we only use them for school, and not every day, but yes, they do work on true ADHD cases.
  • It clears your head without slowing it down.
