    No, America's entire history is one of political division. Every generation wants to believe they are more something than the previous generations. The only thing that would make us unique is if we actually got along with each other.

    In recent times yes. Clinton aroused an unfathomable hatred from the right. In part that was returned by the left to Bush - who of course did everything he could to wedge the country apart even more. I haven't heard anyone claim they are both the same since Nader gave it to Bush. At least more go to the polls.
