Because most people are unable to accept responsibility for their actions, it's very difficult for many to do.

In some situations, people become afraid of what the truth can mean for them and those they care for, so until they are ready or able to cope with it, they'll make excuses and avoid it. That seems easier to them, than facing a truth that threatens their emotional or physical safety zone.

Probably because we really don't know how..everywhere you turn people make excuses to cover their backsides..our government is notorious about taking no responsibility for anything that happens..we are raised (some of us) to never apologize, never admit culpability..it's always "the sun was in my eyes".."the teacher doesn't like me"..."he/she has it in for me"..so we grow up passing off blame to anyone who happens to be around..and that is our "truth"..in that environment, being "honest" with yourself and realizing you are at fault, to blame and responsible is almost impossible! :)
