Everything offends religious people.
-
I am morelikely to wonder if there was ever a movie or fantasy novel that didn't offend someone on some level. Religious or not, some people are just too sensitive.

''The Da Vinci Code'' comes to mind yo...

Have you ever heard of the Harry Potter series?? People take that one way out of proportion. What irritates me most about zealots who persecute fantasies is that they don't even bother to read the books and realize that most novels have worthwhile lessons which correspond with Judeo/Christian ethics.... -_-

ohh yeah theres a doco on evangelism in america called Jesus Camp, and the woman running it screamed at the kids that harry potter was from the devil, trying to tempt them to sin. i reccomend it to everyone.. plus its on youtube :)

The word is fantasy people just need to quit with all the bitching.

Golden Compass made an uproar.

The Golden Compass is said to be anti-christian. The Satanic Verses offended muslims. Noddy offended christians. I go along with Big Daddy on this one.

I was once shocked when a Christian woman I worked with told me that she thought that "Harry Potter" promoted Satanic values and that it offended her that the user of magic and sorcery was displayed in a positive light. I felt sorry for her children, because even though this stuff is not my cup of tea, it appeals to most children. Also, ironically, I think that the "Harry Potter" series of movies actually does teach things that are valued by Christian such as the golden rule, loyalty, honesty, and cooperation - good values whether you're Christian or not (and certainly not inventions of Christianity).

"Dogma" pisses my MIL off to no end...she's a devout Catholic...

"The Origin of Species"

I suppose that "The Santa Clause" would fall into that category, being as Santa has recently become a non-Christian figure.
