i think either it would maybe take the car more effort to turn the tire so it would either take up the same amount of gas or more, or maybe the weight of the tires might facotr in too. but i really have no idea, i know next to nothing about cars, im just thinking out loud.

They wouldn't have to be that large to save gas. That's one reason why you don't want your tires to be low. You will get worse gas mileage. I have a Chevy Cavalier with the next size up from the recommended tires on it and I keep them about 2 pounds of air over the recommended pressure. It definitely makes for a less smooth ride but does get me 2 or 3 extra miles per gallon on the average.
