Not according to Mythbusters, who did a show on this, and debunked all the common additives.

If there was, wouldn't Santa be using it in his "Sled"!!!

Definitely not sugar.

The most a gasoline additive is going to do is keep your fuel system clean, so that you don't get any worse mileage. You should spend a little time researching full-synthetic oils, if you are really serious about trying something that can raise your gas mileage. (e.g. - http://www.amsoil.com/) Some personal experiences stats ....... I ran Amsoil in a turbo-charged engine (motorcycle) and raised my mileage from 55mpg to 66mpg, with the oil being the only change I made. Cost seems prohibitive, at first, but I got 75,000 miles out of my first oil change and actually, if you set it up with a good filter system, like a Franz, you'll never have to change it. Full-synthetic never breaks down, because it has no oil in it! Anyway, I don't want to go on too much, because your question was about additives. Good luck ........

I don't know about additives, but I know that changing the way you drive can save gass mileage. Cars are usually the most efficient on the freeway when they are going 60MPH. You could give that a shot.

I am not aware of an additive that would work BUT.... I can suggest getting gas in the morning or a few hours after the sun has set. The colder the ground, the less gas vapors in the underground tanks = MORE gas you get for your buck. When its warmer, these vapors expand and therefore results in less gas being pumped into your tank while filling. Probably saves you a minuscule amount, but it could help!

Just put a little more fuel in. Fuel is about $3.60 a gallon at this point. Lets say there is a product that improves mileage by a few percent. It's probably going to cost you more than fuel. It doesn't make any sense. 12 gallons of fuel @ $3.60 = $43.20 11.7 gallons of fuel at $3.60 = $42.12 The difference is $1.08 A bottle of additive could cost $5 If the fuel savings is 5% then using the additive you'd save $2.16 So using straight fuel would cost $43.20 and using fuel with an additive would cost $44.96. Just fill it to the top with fuel. People are wasting thier money on additives trying to improve gas mileage. I don't believe an improvement of 5% is even possible with an additive.

If you want to maximize the range of your vehicle, drive 55, keep windows up and use internal fans, do not use air conditioning, keep your tires properly inflated, and use premium fuel. I know someone is going to say premium fuel doesn't add that many mpg to your vehicle, and they are right, but it adds some. Although it is not usually cost effective to use premium, it will increase the cruising range of your fuel tank.
