A metal rod inserted into the penis up to 9 to 11 inches, sometimes entering the bladder. They come in various diameters in French units. Each French unit is about .013 inches. Some can be as much as 24 French or .312 of an inch in diameter. You can do serious harm. Greatly enlarging and tearing the urethra, puncturing the bladder or getting infections. In medicine, the devices are used in conjunction with flourescopes and ultrasound devices to examine the urinary tract and clear obstructions. You really don't want to mess with them. The place selling them, a BSDM site sells them illigally. They are medical devices not to be used by consumers.

Well, let's see. A PENIS makes a penis sound, but only if you bang it on something...

Or maybe you mean "what makes a penis viable/strong/long-lived?" (as in a sound marriage). In that case, I'd say a sound penis has the right amount of spongy cavities to make it erect, a decent length and girth ( or perhaps an indecent one) and a button nose...
